Numbers in the club are still limited due to Covid restrictions so stay with us for guaranteed entry* to Cairns best night spots.

UPDATED RESPONSE TO COVID-19

Update on Guests Travelling From Victoria, NSW or Covid-19 Hotspots

Due to the outbreak in Victoria and New South Wales, those who have travelled through Victoria on or after Friday 3rd July and New South Wales from 8th August are unable to check in to the property until further notice.

The health & safety of our guests and staff remains our top priority at Gilligan’s Backpackers Hotel & Resort!  Like many other businesses, we’re adhering to all advice supplied to us via The Chief Health Officer Direction, constantly adjusting as the situation develops.

We wanted to update you on the additional measures, policies and procedures that have been implemented across the resort, and reassure you that we’re doing everything we can to protect our guests and staff.

Covid Hotspots

In line with current advice, we strongly advise those who live in or have travelled to any declared Covid-19 hotspots, to not travel.

If you have a current reservation, please contact our team who will assist you in rescheduling or cancelling your reservation. (Contact details below)

The Department of Health is advising anyone who is travelling from a Covid-19 hotspot into a new state, to self-quarantine for 14 days. Unfortunately, due to the nature of our property, we are unable to facilitate self-isolation for guests.

On check-in, our team will request information on your recent travel.  If you have travelled from a hotspot you will be asked to find alternative accommodation.

Failure to notify our team of your travel history or providing false information may result in your stay being terminated.

Bookings & Cancellations

During these challenging times, we recognise the need for flexibility surrounding reservations for our guests.  Not only have we updated our cancellation policy in response to the current climate, we are taking every measure we can to accommodate those affected by these unprecedented circumstances.

Rest assured, we are here to support any guests impacted by these circumstances as best we can.

Should you need to cancel your booking, please either:

(a) In the case that you have booked direct at gilligans.com.au, please email our team at reservations@gilligans.com.au with the following information:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Booking reference number

(b) If you have booked via a 3rd-party website (e.g. Booking.com, Hostelworld, Expedia, etc.) you will need to contact them directly to discuss the cancellation and their respective policies..

Your Stay

To ensure you can continue to travel with confidence, we have updated our policies and procedures across the hotel in line with medical and government advice.

As such, we have made the following operational changes;

  • Actively promoting good hygiene practices & awareness through clear signage posted throughout the property
  • Introduction of hand sanitising stations throughout all common/public areas
  • Upholding and regulating physical distancing protocols through clear signage, floor markers, and security in public/common areas;
  • Intensifying our deep cleaning procedures throughout the resort, in line with government standards
  • Implementing increased sanitisation of all communal areas and rooms through increased daily housekeeping schedules
  • Adhering to the maximum occupancy restrictions applied by the public health department
